Welcome to County 57: A Vision for Independent Prosperity

For years, the hardworking people of Bonner, Clinton, Condon, Greenough, Potomac and Seeley Lake have contributed to a county that has consistently placed the needs of one city (Missoula) above all others. High taxes, over regulation, underinvestment in rural infrastructure, and a lack of attention to our schools, businesses, and families have left us feeling disconnected from a system that no longer reflects our values or vision for the future.

We believe it’s time for a change.

Our communities have come together with a bold mission: to chart our own path forward, one that prioritizes local investment, fair taxation, and the interests of all our residents. By choosing to secede from Missoula County, we are creating an opportunity for growth, innovation, and self-governance that will empower us to build a brighter, more prosperous future for generations to come.

Why We’re Seceding

Our communities are diverse, strong, and united by a common belief that we deserve better. Our decision to seek independence is rooted in the following key issues:

  • Taxation without Representation: Our taxes continue to rise, yet essential services in our towns remain underfunded. Our contributions are being funneled into a single city, leaving our roads, schools, safety and public spaces neglected.

  • A Vision for Local Growth: We have a clear vision of the future that focuses on sustainable development, local businesses, and infrastructure that reflects the unique needs of our towns—not those of an urban center miles away.

  • Self-Governance: We believe in the power of community-led governance, where decisions are made by the people who live, work, and care for these towns. Our new county will allow us to directly invest in what matters most to us, without waiting for county officials to prioritize us or over regulate us.

Our Goals

  • Fair Taxation: Keep taxes local to directly benefit our communities.

  • Local Investment: Fund infrastructure projects that support our needs, from schools to healthcare to public safety.

  • Community-Driven Development: Ensure growth plans are tailored to the needs of each individual community rather than imposed by outside forces.

This is not a political movement it is a human services issue. We are all impacted by the neglect of those in power. It's a new chapter for our towns. A future built by the people, for the people. Together, we will create a county that serves everyone equally, where each town thrives, and where our shared values of independence, hard work, and community are honored.

Stay connected, get involved, and learn more about how you can support our mission for independence. We believe in our communities—now is the time to make our vision a reality.

Together, we are County 57.
